Together with the Basilica of Santa Eufemia and the Basilica of Santa Maria delle Grazie, the Baptistery of Grado forms the core of the historical center of the resort. The Lapidarium of Grado should also be mentioned in this respect.

However, the Baptistery is, in fact, the bell tower of the Basilica of Santa Eufemia, and one can only suppose, by piecing out sundry sources, that is was built somewhere during the 6th century, again by order of Bishop Elia.

The Baptistery features an octagonal base structure, and its center is marked by a hexagonal font. Its interior is quite simple as to decorations and architectural structure, and its slight composite dash is owed to the contrast between the initial style recently brought up to light (in 1933) by archeological and excavation works and the Baroque style in which the bell tower was renovated during the 17th century. The Baptistery used to be connected to the Basilica of Santa Eufemia by a small gallery lost to the historical circumstances.
